Caregiver Support Grandparent Program

Potter County Area Agency on Aging has a new program designed to assist Grandparent Caregivers. The Caregiver Support Grandparent Program (CSP) assists older adults caring for a grandchild, niece or nephew in their own home when the parents are unavailable. The goal is to ease the burden an older adult may have when raising a family member’s children. Services available include: • Respite care / childcare. • Information on benefits and resources. • Training in caregiving skills. • Assistance completing benefits and insurance forms. • Reimbursement of qualifying caregiving expenses. Caregivers ages 55 or older caring for a relative’s children in their home may qualify for assistance. Household income guidelines apply.
