It is essential that Family Child Care (FCC) professionals provide care in accordance with Pennsylvania Code. This course provides information to help FCC professionals put health and safety policies and practices in place, so that they are ready to offer high-quality care right from the start. Instructions for creating safe, healthy indoor and outdoor spaces, transporting children, and handling illnesses and administering medications are included. Standard precautions and developmentally appropriate practices are outlined, including appropriate ways to support toilet learning. (3 hours)
This “working course” asks the learner to reflect on preferences, analyze settings, and implement suggestions as they move one step closer to opening an excellent family child care business.
This course is a continuation of the learning begun in PA Required Health and Safety for Family Child Care Part 1.
Objectives:
By taking this course, professionals will:
- Be familiar with and implement standard health and safety practices to prevent and manage injury and illness.
- Prepare their home programming space to comply with health and safety regulations.
- Be able to explain the important reasons behind the health and safety policies that regulate family child care businesses.
