Family child care (FCC) professionals provide essential services to their local community. It is essential that the care they provide is done in accordance with Pennsylvania Code. This course presents information so that FCC professionals can learn to set up their business practices, physical space, and learning and caregiving routines in full compliance with health and safety regulations. This sets them up for success in business and offers positive outcomes for the children in their care. (3 hours)

Objectives

This course covers required, essential health and safety regulations and policies necessary for operating a high-quality family child care program. The completion of this course is required in order to work in an FCC home or apply for a Certificate of Compliance. By taking this course, professionals will:

  1. Be familiar with and implement standard health and safety practices to prevent and manage injury and illness.
  2. Prepare their home programming space to comply with health and safety regulations.
  3. Be able to explain the important reasons behind the health and safety policies that regulate FCC businesses.
