Excellent health and safety practices are an essential component of high-quality childcare centers and group child care (GCC) homes. These practices are also often the law. For children of all ages to have a nurturing, engaging, healthy experience, many things need to happen—things that new employees need to know in order to be confident in their work. (3 hours)

This course continues the foundational learning begun in PA Required Health and Safety for Centers-Group Child Care Part 1.

Objectives

The completion of this course within the first 90 days of employment is required in order to work in a certified center or group childcare home. By taking this course, professionals will:

  1. Be familiar with and implement standard health and safety practices to prevent and manage injury and illness.
  2. Comply with applicable health and safety regulations for the children and classroom where they are employed.
  3. Be able to explain the important reasons behind the health and safety policies that regulate ECE/school-age programs.
