In this course, newly hired operators or employees will learn essential health and safety regulatory requirements for child care centers or group homes. They will receive support to establish appropriate routines that provide safe, healthy environments where children of all ages thrive. Through embedded activities, they will discuss protocols with a supervisor and/or co-workers so that together they will make sure all requirements are covered and programs are in compliance. ( 3 hours)

After this course, the employee will continue the professional learning journey by completing PA Required Health and Safety for Centers-Group Child Care Part 2.

Objectives

The completion of this course is required to work in a certified center or group child care home. By taking this course, professionals will:

  1. Be familiar with and implement standard health and safety practices to prevent and manage injury and illness.
  2. Comply with applicable health and safety regulations for the children and classroom where they are employed.
  3. Be able to explain the important reasons behind the health and safety policies that regulate ECE and school-age programs.
