Objectives
- Explore health and safety best practices as implemented within the parameters of a variety of licensed SA/OST settings.
- Explain the importance of and offer examples for integrating youth voice into OST health and safety practices.
- Describe team strategies for intentional supervision and meeting your state's school-age regulations, including unique school-age care challenges like bathrooms, hallway transitions, outdoor learning times, bus transportation, and community excursions.
- Identify ways to increase the amount of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity in the school-age program.
- Assess your OST program for emotionally healthy qualities and components.
- Practice creative problem-solving in order to meet some of the more challenging OST health and safety standards while maintaining the unique qualities of OST care and learning.
