Designing intergenerational environments requires an integrative and respectful culture that values everyone's inherent design instinct, regardless of drawing skills or artistic inclination. During this interactive mini-workshop, participants will collaborate on ideas for a new intergenerational center within a Life Plan Community in Virginia. The center will be comprised of childcare and adult day spaces with shared indoor and outdoor intergenerational programming. The vision for the intergenerational center will be shared along with current trends in intergenerational design. Through a tailored workshop exercise, participants will experience collaborative design and work together to envision a new intergenerational space. This workshop is presented in partnership with Perkins Eastman and Westminster Canterbury Shenandoah Valley; it will be facilitated by Penn State architecture students through the Hamer Center for Community Design.
