We envision the empowerment of parents/grandparents to take a positive leadership role in the lives of their children/grandchildren, the economic growth of their families, and the strength of the community. Our goal is to promote healthy, positive child and youth development, interaction and economic and social self-sufficiency.
Provides preschool for children ages 3-5 and services for their families. Several of our clients are raising their grandchildren.
Works to ensure that all children have the resources needed for a quality public education
Many older adults find themselves serving as parents for the young children in their extended families, raising the children within their own homes. FCSP also offers support for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, ages 55 years and older, caring for children under the age of 18 years. FCSP has a special program that offers intergenerational caregivers monthly reimbursement for caregiving supplies and services.
Provide weekly support group to grandparents raising their grandchildren. Issues include: sharing common experiences, learning new child rearing skills, reducing stress, making new friends, respite care.
To recognize the needs of grandparents who are raising their grandchildren: promote awareness of community support, provide effective social services, advocate for changes to secure the rights and financial aid for grandparents who are primary caregivers, collaborate with agencies utilizing resources with the family system and community.
Informal support group of grandparents raising older children with special needs.
A community based Kinship foster care agency provides Grandparent support groups for relatives who provide formal and informal kinship care. A clothing and food bank are additional a resources provided for formal and informal kinship caregivers.
Family law service provider rendering legal services in guardianship, adoption, custody and estate planning and administration matters offering reduced, flat fee charges for preparation of a temporary guardianship designation.
Support group for grandparents raising grandchildren provides emotional support, parenting skills, educational opportunities and recreational activities.
Provides family- driven and confidential support services to adoptive, kinship, and custodial families. We offer 3 types of services: case management, support groups, and respite care. All services are free and fully funded through the PA State SWAN department. Case management services allow our caseworkers to connect the family with local resources such as: mental health needs, educational services, and birth parent conflict resolutions, along with several other needs and services identified between the family and caseworker. We offer several types of Support Groups within the Erie and Crawford County areas as well as Online Support Groups. The respite support service allows us to stand out amongst other agencies within the state due to our ability to provide the family with $900 in respite funding which can be used for activities such as family memberships to the YMCA, zoos, museums, dance classes, and other extra-curricular activities. These funds can also be used to pay for approved respite care providers.
A private, non-profit youth and family counseling center, we offer consultation, education, prevention, intervention and treatment services.

Bethany Christian Services of Western PA provides case advocacy services, respite funding and support groups to families who have adopted or have permanent legal custody. These supportive services can help grandparents raising their grandchildren.

WPADB- Mt. Pleasant Hub hosts open office hours Thursday and Friday at our office from 10:00am-2:00pm. Caretakers can receive necessary basic need items, such as diapers, wipes, period products and adult incontinence supplies one time per month. Families also have access to overflow basic hygiene items for bath time, clothing, and books as donations allow. Our open office hours also allow for individual one-on-one support and referral services for young children and their caretakers.
