Recreation Economy Planning Assistance
EPA’s Office of Community Revitalization, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Northern Border Regional Commission are offering planning assistance through the new Recreation Economy for Rural Communities program. Partner communities will work with a planning team to foster environmentally friendly community development and Main Street revitalization through the sustainable use of forests or other natural resources. Rural Learning & Coordinating Center Advancing Health Equity Through Social & Economic Opportunity
2019 Call for Proposals

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s (RWJF) Healthy Communities theme is interested in identifying and funding a Rural Learning and Coordinating Center to work alongside RWJF, rural communities, and others in the field committed to improving rural health equity and well-being in our nation. The Center will provide systematic learning and coordination across those working nationally and regionally to advance social and economic conditions in rural communities, which ultimately lead to better health and well-being. Deadline is May 22, 2019.

USDA Agricultural Workforce Training Grants Program
USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture invites applications from community, junior, and technical colleges, workforce development organizations, and partners to apply for up to $500,000 for curriculum development for workforce training in the agricultural sciences. Curriculum development includes and is not limited to, creation of curriculum and instructional delivery systems, pilot testing/implementation of curriculum and delivery methods, development of assessment tools, and evaluation. FY19 Letter of Intent Deadline: June 11, 2019. Application Deadline: August 22, 2019.

USDA Rural Health and Safety Competitive Grants Program (RHSE)
The RHSE program proposals are expected to be community-based, outreach education programs, such as those conducted through Human Science extension outreach, that provides individuals and families with: Information as to the value of good health at any age; Information to increase individual or family’s motivation to take more responsibility for their own health; Information regarding rural environmental health issues that directly impact on human health; Information about and access to health promotion and educational activities; and Training for volunteers and health services providers concerning health promotion and health care services for individuals and families in cooperation with state, local and community partners. Closes Monday, June 10, 2019.
