The School of Natural Resources at West Virginia University (WVU) invites Ph.D. applications for a funded project (USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture) that aims to better understand tourism sustainability indicators as related to COVID-19 in rural gateway communities in eastern US.
About the project
This opportunity is part of a project funded by USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture, titled Rural Community Well-Being: Using Tourism Indicators to Identify, Understand, and Address COVID Pandemic Impacts and Strategies for Resiliency. This integrated project (involving research, education, and extension) aims to develop and examine tourism sustainability indicators as related to COVID-19 in rural gateway communities in the Eastern United States.
Requirements
- Strong desire for research and publication
- Must have earned or will earn a master’s degree in recreation/leisure, parks, and tourism or related fields by August 2022
- Strong quantitative research skills
- Background or working knowledge in big data and/or GIS preferred
