Congratulations to our Northeast colleagues honored by NACDEP and CDS!

  • Michael Dougherty from West Virginia University Extension was honored with the Joint NACDEP-CDS Award for the leadership he brings to both organizations.
  • The Team Winner of both the national and regional NACDEP Excellence in Community Development Work awards went to Cornell University’s Community and Regional Development Institute for their Local Agriculture and Land Use Leadership Institute. Team members include Rod Howe, David Kay, Heidi Mouillesseaux-Kuzman, Robin Blakely-Armitage, Larry Van De Valk, and Judy Wright (all from Cornell) and David Haight from the American Farmland Trust.

The NACDEP Northeast regional award for Excellence in Teamwork went to one of the multi-state teams funded by the Northeast Center to transfer a successful Extension program across state lines. The “Sharing Scholarship and Innovations in the First Impressions” program team includes:

    • Doug Arbogast, Daniel Eades and Allison Nichols (West Virginia University Extension);
    • Laura Brown (University of Connecticut Extension);
    • Lisa Chase (University of Vermont Extension);
    • Casey Hancock and Geoffrey Sewake (University of New Hampshire Extension);
    • Cynthia Messer (University of Minnesota Tourism Center); and,
    • Andy Northrop (Michigan State University Extension

  • Charlie French from the University of New Hampshire accepted award certificates for the NACDEP 2017 Northeast Educational Materials Award, for the Impact Indicators Tip Booklet that he, George Morse, and Scott Chazdon co-authored. The NACDEP Northeast regional award for Educational Materials recognized The Impact Indicators Tips Booklet, which was published by the Northeast Center and was written by:

    • George Morse (University of Maine and NERCRD);
    • Charles French (University of New Hampshire Extension); and,
    • Scott Chazdon (University of Minnesota Extension)

  • Bill Hare of the University of the District of Columbia and NERCRD Board Member Brent Elrod (USDA-NIFA) were among more than a dozen members of a multi-state team recognized with both the national and Southern region Excellence in Teamwork Award. These NACDEP awards recognized the multi-state Rapid Response Team Regarding Civil Discourse on Race Relations.
  • Margaret Stout, associate professor of public administration at West Virginia University, received the CDS Outstanding Community Development Educator Award.
