Congratulations to NACDEP award winners!
Michael Dougherty, a WVU Extension Professor and Specialist in Community Resources and Economic Development, was honored with the NACDEP Distinguished National Service Award for his contributions to national conferences, his role on five NACDEP committees, his work on the Galaxy Conference committee and his service on the board of the Journal of Extension.
Dougherty and his colleague Daniel Eades, WVU Extension Specialist in Rural Economics, along with Ginger Harmon, West Virginia Office of Rural Health, were honored with both the National and Regional awards, team category, for Excellence in Community Development for their West Virginia Recruitable Communities Program. The Recruitable Communities Program engages community members to develop strategies that make where they live “more attractive” to potential medical professionals, leading to a better place for potential medical professionals and an improved community for all.
Neal Fogle, Penn State Extension Educator in Community and Economic Development, was honored with two regional awards. He received the Excellence in Community Development Programming award, individual category, for his program “Planning Commission Roles and Responsibilities: Land Use Regulation and Beyond in Montour County, PA.” He also was recognized with the regional Educational Materials award for his Youth in Philanthropy Training.
