Examples of the types of stories we're looking for include heritage tourism, arts and culture, sports, and using amenities available in forest gateway communities. We are also looking for best practices in cooperative development to support the growth of such businesses and Main Street development and education opportunities that have been able to emerge due to recreation economy.

Your stories will help the US Forest Service, Rural Development and the Regional Rural Development Centers to develop a resource guide on Recreation Economy, which will be highlighting best practices in planning and implementing recreation economy projects as well as providing information on funding opportunities that can support such projects.

Please send us a short summary (not more than two paragraphs) of success stories you are aware of.

The description should contain information on:

  • location
  • type of project
  • how it was financed
  • what the impact have been

Pictures are more than welcome! Please include the name of all contributors to this success story so they can be appropriately recognized.

Please send your success stories before COB September 26 to Ms Hiwot Gebremariam: .
