New Article Highlights Need for Federal Data Collection

Posted: September 26, 2013

An article entitled "Why We Need Federal Statistical Data for States and Counties" has been prepared for the current issue of AAEA's Choices Magazine. The article reviews implications of cutting data collection and reporting efforts under the federal sequester.

Some implications include BEA's Local Area Personal Income (LAPI), which contains consistent industry-level detail on jobs and incomes for all U.S. counties since 1969. This could have significant implications for our indicators work on measuring community development impacts.
