Where We Are... April 25th
Posted: April 25, 2016
Finals are just a week away, which means that we have to make our final preparations for Lock Haven this summer. Our group had a fairly solid plan for improving Peddie Park, located a few minutes outside of town, but we have hit a few roadblocks in the last couple of weeks (discussed in the previous blog). Our community champion, who has been our main contact during communications throughout the semester, is very busy planning a major event on May 6th, so we have to adjust our planning accordingly. We must now communicate with our other champion, who has been a bit harder to reach and is not quite up to speed with planning right now.
We need to schedule a time to meet with a representative from Lock Haven Parks and Rec, which has posed a challenge. This representative has requested that all parties involved (our team plus our two champions) meet at the same time to discuss plans for Peddie Park this summer. The champions and our team members are very busy for the next couple of weeks, so communication and scheduling has been very difficult. I am hoping to hear from the Parks and Rec representative in the next few days, but I'm not sure that this will happen.
I have learned that situations like this are common in community work. Scheduling and communication can be very challenging and time consuming. That being said, it becomes very important to make meetings as productive as possible, since you never know when the next one will be. I am still optimistic about our summer work though. I think that our next meeting will clear up a lot of our questions.
