Floating River Dock

First potential project for Lock Haven.

We first contacted our champions about 2 months ago to figure out what we would be doing in Lock Haven. They were a bit difficult to reach early on, but they are busy people working in under-staffed offices, so this was understandable. After a productive phone call, we were given a few option for potential projects that we could work on this summer.

We were given the option to work on signage for the town, work on building a floating dock for the river, or work on projects related to homelessness in Lock Haven. We eventually decided that we wanted to focus on river-access, so the floating dock seemed like the best option.

We did some research on how floating docks work, and how other towns have used them in effective ways. We even identified a company in New Jersey that installs large floating docks for small towns similar to Lock Haven. The susquehanna-greenway organization could also be of some help to us as a partner. We hope that we will be able to work on this project, among others during our experience this summer.
