Anu Rangarajan is the Director of the Cornell Small Farm Program and also serves as State Specialist for Fresh Market Vegetable Production. The Small Farm Program's mission is to support the sustainability of diverse, thriving small farms that contribute to food security, healthy rural communities, and the environment. We do this by encouraging small farms-focused research and extension programs and fostering collaboration in support of small farms. The program sponsors statewide work  teams on topics of beginning farmer education, local food systems, renewable energy, small dairy, and livestock processing.

Abstract - In 2012, the Cornell Small Farm Program hosted the NY Small Farm Summit to identify strategic investments to support small farm viability in the state. As part of the lead up to the Summit, we hosted a survey of priories for investment. Over 550 respondents provided their top three areas for investment, and suggested why these investments are critical to this segment of the food system. I will review some of these results and suggest directions for future investment.
