LETTER FROM STEVEN MURDOCK- November 10, 1993

November 10, 1993

Dr. Ken Wilkinson

Economics and Rural Sociology
Pennsylvania State University
University Park, PA. 16802

Dear Ken:

I learned with sadness of your recent illness and wanted to write and express my concern and support. I wanted to also thank you again for your guidance of me and others in rural sociology for whom you have served as an ideal role model. In my own case, my years of contact with you, and my recent experience at Penn State, have caused me to adopt you as a model both as a scholar and as a compassionate, concerned human being who makes a difference in the lives of his colleagues, his students and his discipline. I know of no one who has better served his discipline, his colleagues, students, and friends.

It is a privilege to have you as my friend and thank you again for all you have done for me and others in our discipline. If I can be of any help in any way, please do not hesitate to call me. I look forward to our next meeting and wish you all the best. Remember, you are special to us and we love you.

Best wishes,

Steve H. Murdock
