RAND Brief Puts Price Tag on Informal Elder Care in U.S.

[from NCFR news, Feb. 13, 2015] The RAND Corporation has published a new research brief -- "Valuing the Care We Provide our Elders" -- that puts the monetary value of informal caregiving of elderly people in the U.S. at $522 billion annually. Findings, which are based on data from the American Time Use Survey, include that Americans spend more than 30 billion hours annually providing informal care for elderly friends or family members.
