Maurice D. Smith, Jr., a native of Sussex County, Virginia, earned the BS (2009) degree from Virginia State University and the MS (2012) degree from Virginia Tech.  Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, Maurice was a 4-H youth development extension agent with the Virginia Cooperative Extension in Sussex County, VA. Maurice  is a proud member of  The Minorities in Agriculture, National Resources & Related Sciences (MANNRS), and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. To learn more, visit
